About Anima

¡anima! gallery features artists from all over the Southwest, with a specific focus on artists from the Silver City area.  ¡anima! is also a fully equipped custom frame shop and a store that carries Mexican folk art in a variety of mediums ranging from tin work & jewelry, to Dia de Los Muertos catrinas.

Owner María Elena Arizaga was raised in Silver City, where her family has lived for generations. She attended UNM in Albuquerque where she met her husband, Ben Emerson, who is an Albuquerque native. When María Elena completed school, a plan had always been in place to return home to Silver City with the hope of giving back to the community. An opportunity arose and an art gallery seemed the perfect fit!

The mission of ¡anima! gallery is to feature local artists and to support the development of young artists. In doing so, María Elena and Ben, hope to contribute to this vibrant and wonderful community.
